Two Methods for
Curbing
Baseless
Hatred
Neuroplasticity
Our brains continually rewire themselves from repetition. By repeating certain thoughts to ourselves, we're creating new neural connections. We can literally train our brains to start thinking differently.
Impulse Control
Outsmart your primitive brain by preparing yourself ahead of time to confront any challenging situation.
The goal is to recognize as soon as possible any feelings of hurt, humiliation, resentment or victimhood.
Then, you decide to expel this nascent hatred by shifting to rational responses. To succeed, you remain calm, focusing on your breathing by inhaling through your nose, and exhaling slowly through your mouth. Focusing on breathing helps you transition to the rational mind and not react in a reflexive way.
Let go of grudges.
Since feelings of hatred can remain alive for years, the harmful effects of the emotion can change how we live the rest of our lives.
Even if you are holding on to anger and resentment from a long time ago, or you don't want to reintroduce this person into your life, you can free yourself from the grip of hatred by forgiving them in your heart.
Da Et Atzmecha (Knowing Yourself)
Inner awareness and honesty with oneself are precious assets. Forgiving in your heart restores emotional freedom, lowering blood pressure and enhancing heart health.
You've chosen to let go
That grievance is between you and God (100% anonymous and stored nowhere).
Viktor Frankl's Principle of Freedom
Every person possesses one fundamental, personal freedom that no one can take away: the absolute freedom to choose how and when to react to any situation.
Practice It
Synapse Rewired.
By pausing and riding out that wave, you consciously denied your primitive brain control over your actions. You just carved out a stronger, more rational neural pathway for handling conflict.
Now you’re ready to have a tough conversation…
Because you chose to shut down your primitive brain, and use your rational brain instead.
By choosing forgiveness, even secretly within yourself, you have:
What Transpires When You Reclaim Control
You relinquish the desire for revenge or resentment.
You relinquish the desire to change the past.
You decide that a trivial incident several years ago should not define the rest of your life.
You decide not to remain a victim indefinitely.
You decide to stop chasing other people’s approval.
You decide to control your life.
